Grave Location:  St. Laurent, France (block G, row 11, grave 17).

 

Bio:  The 1940 U.S. Census shows Alfred as working as a delivery boy for a grocery store and living with his parents and siblings on Kearney Street. Alfred served with the 30th Division, which was not part of the initial D-Day Invasion, arriving in Normandy on June 11, 1944, but the division spearheaded the breakthrough at Saint-Lo and led the advance across Western Europe. An account of the 119th Regiment shows the regiment was hit with heavy artillery fire July 10-11, 1944 and suffered heavy casualties.
