Division/Company/Unit info:  530th Fighter Squadron,  380th Bomber Group, 14th Air Force.

 

Awards and Commendations:  Air Medal with Oak Clusters (Posthumous).

 

Riley Connection:  Family lived on Bertrand St. in Manhattan, KS, and it's presumed he grew up there.  More info TBD.

 

Date of Death (and Age):  February 16, 1945 (age TBD).

 

Place of Death:  Plane seems to had a fatal malfunction occur causing Niemeier to crash on return from combat mission somehwere over China.


Grave Location:  Originally at the Mopanshan American Military Cemetery near Fungwangshan in the Sechwan Province of China.  Later re-interred at the National Cemetary in Hawaii.
